Emocean: A Surfer’s Connection to the Sea

This Movie Stars Jamie O Bryan, Jeff Clark, John Witzig, and Mike Prickett along with other surfers, as they talk about the hardships and history of surfing. From different surfers’ perspectives and their respective surfing region. As they all love to surf and Jamie loves taking photos. They all have different aspects and goals as they surf together and learn about the history of surfing. The movie shows the grind that goes into surfing as you ride the biggest waves along with taking the biggest risks to ride these waves, along with the sacrifices and dangers they have to look at while surfing or riding a big wave. As you can get injured badly, if not cautious or saved in time by the lifeguard. As what happened to one of the surfers? One second you can ride on a wave, the next you’re in the ocean, or on crutches. It’s really more of a lifestyle for people like him because of these risks. As he always surfs and learns things about the ocean. As when surfing big waves, you need to be watched by the rescue team just in case something happens. As someone got paralyzed from riding a big wave and got sent into the ocean. But the lifeguards saved him, as he had just enough time to survive. The cost of surfing is your safety, but it’s a relieving sight to see a surfer that just hit a big wave with no complications. As when you’re off the wave, you’re simply amazed by how that person made it. The beauties of the ocean also follow some surfers as they make huge waves. As the surrounding wildlife in that part of the ocean ride with you. That makes the movie 10x cooler, as not everyone knows you can ride with dolphins; along your wave. The flashbacks of different surfers and their stories really make you love surfing. As it makes you realize that it’s a lot more than what meets the eye. As you can get the biggest wave and make the day, or get the littlest and do the most. As it takes a lot out of a surfer, to get that big wave. I think this documentary really did a great job explaining how the culture around surfing is. Would definitely watch again.
