This is a reasonable book for the time period it was made in which was when there were prairies and land but when people want the land things go wrong as I explained, I recognize the book from the movie with the same title. It talks about a time when Indians were having an issue with the French and English people taking over new land. It talks about the insanely poor treatment that those before us who had the land lost and the crazy battles and stories and sacrifices when coming on to new land, It’s frantic, showing the different characters as they move through the book. Furthermore, it was France vs. England. A lot of talk about the ways the Indians people survived through their hard times.(As they were getting wiped by the opposers.) Along with vivid and long stories about their journeys and experiences from all sides. The different routes and ideas that were displayed was phenomenal Shows a little bit of romance and triumph between different parties.. Sometimes it hurts to realize what these people went through and still are going through to this day with bad treatment. Seeing the ones you love every day gone and finding yourself going through some emotions cause all you’ve known was taken away from you. The dialogue is so Western and the way how they never gave up and fought for what they believed.A thing about this author, he never fails to portray a vivid story about hardship there was a lot of issues with the world (in his time 1820’s to 60’s) and he put it into composition. James Cooper was a big thing back in his day and this book is old but really stood for something beautiful. I wish the world would treat our indigenous people better.Im going to give it a solid 4 stars as it portrays something I care about, which is a cause.
